Best Ways To Cool Your Home
Posted on: 26 May 2016
When it comes to cooling your home, you want to keep it at as comfortable of a temperature as possible while using your central air conditioner as little as possible. This way, you can keep your electric bill down lower and put less usage on the entire system. Consider using some of the ideas here to keep your home cooler during those summer months.
Install ceiling fans
Installing ceiling fans throughout the house can help you to efficiently circulate that cooler air throughout the house. Plus, the extra breeze the ceiling fans produce will also help the rooms to feel cooler.
Have a solar attic fan installed
Installing a solar attic fan will help to decrease some of the hot air that collects in the attic area of your house. Since these fans are solar powered, they won't use any more electricity and releasing that hot air will help the rest of your house stay cooler, allowing the air conditioner to work less to achieve your desired temperature. Contact HVAC contractors for more information.
Insulate your windows
Your windows can allow in a lot of heat, just by the sun beating on them as it does every day. Going with double paned windows can help to prevent a lot of that heat from coming in. Having tint put on the outside glass of those windows will then reflect the sun, helping to achieve even more success in preventing the sun from fighting your cooling efforts. You can even go a step further by keeping your curtains closed during the heat of the day.
Expose those hard floors
As soon as you find yourself turning on the air conditioner, roll up the rugs that are covering up your hard floors. The hard flooring will hold in a lot of coolness and picking up the rugs allows that coolness to expand into the room itself.
Install door chimes
Consider installing door chimes on the doors that lead to the outside. This way, you will hear the chimes going every time a door in your house is left open. As soon as the door shuts, the chime will turn off. If you have kids or other family members that tend to leave the doors open, the chimes will help prevent this from happening. Since a huge amount of cool air can pour out the door quickly, this will really help you to keep the house much cooler without wasting money.
If you don't currently have a central air conditioning system in your home, then you may want to look into having one installed. A central air system will provide you with an efficient way to cool your home in a way that keeps it cooled evenly.
