Characteristics Of A Prime Furnace Installation Location

Posted on: 18 November 2019

The position of your gas furnace is important because it will affect the efficiency and safety of your furnace. Many homes will place their furnaces in the basement, but if you do not have a basement, you might need to find a different location to install your furnace.

Close Proximity to Natural Gas

For a natural gas furnace, the best location is one where you can easily supply natural gas. If you will be using propane tanks rather than a natural gas line, this is not relevant. You may need to place the furnace in the attic and you will need a location for a plywood platform that provides access to the roof for an exhaust. In some cases, a closet is not a practical option for the location of a furnace.

Near a Location Where You Can Build an Exhaust

A gas furnace is usually stored in a confined location such as a closet or the attic. It can also be stored in a garage or utility room. You won't want the furnace to be in a living area because the area where the furnace is located will be warmer.

Big Enough for the Furnace

Once you have a sense of where you might want to place a furnace, measure the area to make sure that the furnace will fit. You'll also want to measure the area to determine how much cubic air will be in the location for the furnace to consume.

Has Adequate Airflow

You will want to make sure that the furnace is not competing too much with other appliances for airflow. The furnace needs to have enough air so that it can properly engage in combustion. Also, you do not want the furnace to make the other appliances so hot that it might cause damage to them.

Doesn't Have Temperature Extremes

Temperature extremes, whether it be extreme heat or extreme cold, can damage a furnace. For that reason, you'll usually want to install the furnace in a location that is insulated enough. If it can become very cold in the winter for a particular location, don't select it for a furnace.

The best way to determine where you should install a furnace is to talk to a heating installation service. Not only can they help you determine where you should install a furnace, but they can also help you determine the right type of furnace for the location where you will install it.

Making Your Customers Comfortable

Starting a business is a monumental accomplishment. My mom and I have talked about opening a restaurant in the past. However, we haven’t ever worked up enough courage to turn our dreams into a reality. I admire anyone who has the nerve to risk financial security in order to become an entrepreneur. I do know, however, that if you’re beginning a new business establishment, one of your goals should be to make your customers comfortable as they shop around. You don't want them to get too hot, or too cold. Depending on where you live, this objective might be especially important during the hot summer months. On this blog, you will discover the best types of HVAC units to install in business establishments. Enjoy!
