Posted on: 19 August 2021
If it is extremely hot where you live and your air conditioning system is running overtime then this can cause many problems. Below is information on some possible issues and tips on preventing future problems with your system.
Air Conditioning Problems in Summer
The air conditioning system may be overworked if it needs to constantly run to keep your home cool. If so, this will cause many problems with your unit. One problem is not getting enough cold air.
To remedy this, you must first check the air filter. If it is dirty then the cold air cannot get through it and into your home. If the air filter is okay, hire an air conditioning repair contractor. The air condenser may be dirty or it may be blocked. If so, the repair contractor can clean and unblock the air condenser for you. If the air condenser looks bad the repair technician may suggest that you replace it.
You should also check the AC unit outside of your home. Make sure there is no debris, dirt, etc. around the unit. If there is, this can block the vents and prevent cold air from getting into your home. This is something you should check periodically, especially in the fall months when leaves build up.
If your feel air coming from your vents but it is not as strong as it normally, is you may have a leak in the air ducts. An AC repair contractor will check the ductwork for any rips or broken seals and fix these for you. If there is a lot of damage to the ductwork the AC repair contractor can replace the ductwork for you.
Prevent Problems
Once you get your AC unit repaired there are things you can do to help prevent problems in the future. Getting your unit maintained is important. You should have this done in the spring before the hot weather moves in. An AC repair contractor should maintain the system for you. They will look at all internal components to ensure they are in good working condition, check the wiring, check the refrigerant level, and much more.
You also need to check the filter at least once a month. If you have a smoker or animals in the home, you should replace the filter more often. Remove the air filter and write down the number that is on it. This number tells you the measurements you need for your new filter. There are filters that you throw away, filters that can be cleaned and replaced, and hypoallergenic air filters.
